With construction underway, CASE was hired by 360 Architecture to provide geometry definition, design rationalization and BIM support for the main 65,000-seat football (soccer) stadium as part of the new Basrah Sports City complex designed for the 2013 Gulf Cup of Nations. CASE developed a custom parametric model to control the overall stadium bowl geometry, which was used in establishing the primary structural grid. CASE also provided design rationalization and fabrication modeling for the exterior rain screen, which consists of a series of modular glass-composite panels. Following these early design exercises, CASE provided model auditing and quality assurance for the building information model produced by the design team, which enabled the effective management of this significant infrastructural project within the constraints of a fast-track schedule and challenging project environment.
