Steve presents at Digital Craft Symposium
In September 2007, I was invited to speak as part of a symposium and panel discussion exploring the role of craft in contemporary design. I presented my work on technology implementation and design computation for SHoP Architects, specifically my work on the precast enclosure system for the 290 Mulberry project.
Other participants included: Mark Goulthorpe, dECOi Architects, Stephen Kieran, FAIA, Kieran Timberlake Associates, Dennis Shelden, Gehry Technologies, Inc., Randall Stout, FAIA, Randall Stout Architects, and Robert A. Zahner, A. Zahner Company

"The symposium will focus on the linkage between digital design, construction, and the physical manufacturing process. The event seeks to examine the current state of BIM and the implications for the practice of architecture, engineering, and construction. By bringing together leading practitioners and scholars, the symposium shall establish a forum of A/E/C professionals to address the changing role of design and construction professionals."

290 Mulberry
Hello Steve,
I'm not sure you'd remember me from my time teaching at Virginia Tech, I thought I might have had you in a materials and methods course there long ago...
Just wanted to say very nice work, I'll be showing this project to the students Thursday night. Prepping for that lecture reminded me to say hello.
Keep up the great work, I hope to visit it next time I'm in NYC.
Take Care,
Mike OBrien
