Firmwide Design Technology Strategy

Shive-Hattery, a full-service architecture and engineering firm with services encompassing a wide-range of disciplines and project types, needed to develop a process to implement BIM more consistently across projects, offices and disciplines. CASE conducted onsite interviews and meetings with over 80 employees from six Shive-Hattery locations over a three-day period in order to understand their current and future design technology needs. These interviews included a range of participants from corporate services to office and discipline leadership to project teams and the feedback received reflected the diversity of these participants. With this information in-hand, CASE developed a detailed BIM implementation strategy that addressed many of the current barriers to broader BIM adoption within the firm. This is now being introduced as part of a firmwide initiative to implement new design and delivery processes centered on BIM.
